The mission of IINH is to provide assistance and support services to refugee newcomers and their families as they resettle in New Hampshire, and to remove barriers and open doors as they move toward self-sufficiency. IINH was founded in 1994 as a reorganization, continuation, and expansion of existing services in place since 1985. Building on the foundation of experienced resettlement workers who are now IINH staff, the Institute serves as one of the leaders in New Hampshire refugee resettlement.
IINH currently serves New Hampshire's refugees and immigrants through six program areas delivered from our offices in Manchester and Nashua: 1) Resettlement Services, 2) Social Services, 3) Healthcare Coordination Services, 4) ESOL/Education Services, 5) Employment Services and 6) Immigration Legal Services. All IINH services, including those proposed here, follow an empowerment-based, holistic case management approach. Each client works closely with his or her counselor to choose goals and develop strategies that will help him or her become self-sufficient as quickly as possible. IINH is the only resettlement agency in New Hampshire that offers all services under one roof.
IINH offers a cost-effective investment, responding to the steady flow of new arrivals with a number of critical core programs. The goals of IINH’s programs are to:
Help newcomers and their families find pathways into the American mainstream-- pathways to employment and self-sufficiency, to active participation in their children's schooling, and to active citizenship within the community
Strengthen families by helping to rebuild relationships and infrastructure destroyed by tragic circumstances, and by helping newcomers redefine familial roles within American culture
Overcome language and cultural barriers to increase refugees' access to vital health and social services
Utilize a holistic approach to care in order to guarantee that services address the intellectual, physical and psychological needs of the client. Our integrated approach assures that various types of assistance are woven together to create a program that addresses the mind, body, heart and spirit of those who have lived through grave atrocities and vicious human rights violations.
Protect the rights of endangered women and children, provide emotional support for political trauma and torture survivors, and advocate for victims of family and community violence
